Connect to a Network Printer on a Windows XP Server in Windows Vista

Found it here.

  1. Right-click on the printer and choose Properties.
  2. Go to the Ports tab.
  3. Click Add Port…, select Local Port, then click New Port…
  4. For the port name, enter exactly the network path and share name of your printer (e.g. \\RECEPTION\HP LASERJET Series).
  5. Click OK, and double-check that this new port is selected with the checkbox next to it.
  6. Click OK to close the printer properties.
